The network name has to equal the chain that address lives on. TRC20, ERC20, and BEP20 look similar as words. They are not the same ledger. Pick wrong, the other side does not receive, and support often cannot pull the coins off the wrong chain.
Gu Heng writes one rule: the network the receiver wrote is the network you pick. Fee size is second. For a large send, probe a small amount first, and confirm the other side actually credits that chain.
Numbers on the withdrawal page move. Do not memorise yesterday’s fee. Futures and leveraged positions can lose 100%. That is a different risk from picking a chain, but do not skip the match because you are “in a hurry to add.”
Three rows to match on the withdrawal page
Asset, network, address. All three agree, then submit. Skip one row and you can send funds to a ledger you cannot reach.
- Asset: USDT is not USDC. BTC is not a wrapped BTC on BEP20. Read the one you mean to send.
- Network: the dropdown name has to match what the receiver wrote, character for character. Do not switch because another row is cheaper.
- Address: paste. Do not type it. After paste, check the first characters and the last.
When Memo / Tag appears, treat it as a fourth row. A deposit missing a tag often needs a human, and some platforms never credit. On a network with no tag, do not invent a string.
Copy the address from the other side’s page, not from a second copy in chat. Chat apps insert spaces or rewrite characters. After paste, match the first six and last six against their page again. A QR code can be scanned. You still confirm the network row was not scanned onto another chain.
How the three common USDT networks differ
Same brand. Balances on three chains do not move themselves. Tether discloses by chain at tether.to/transparency.

ERC-20 is a token standard on Ethereum; see ethereum.org · ERC-20. BEP20 walks BNB Smart Chain; overview at BNB Smart Chain overview. Both addresses are 0x. You still pick the network on its own.
If the other side only sends a 0x string and no network, stop. Ask, then send. A tighter TRC20-versus-ERC20 walk is TRC20 or ERC20.
Do not paste stablecoin habits onto BTC and ETH
Bitcoin mainnet does not use a “same coin, many chains” issue like TRC20 USDT. An ETH mainnet send moves ether itself. That is not a send of ERC20-USDT.
Bitcoin.org on transfers: How does Bitcoin work. When you withdraw BTC, pick the Bitcoin network. Addresses often start with 1, 3, or bc1. Do not send BTC onto a wrapped network that “also says BTC,” unless the receiver clearly wants the wrapped asset.
ETH to an exchange or a wallet: confirm they want mainnet, not Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, or another L2. ETH in the name is not mainnet.
BNB exists as chain BNB and as a spot balance. Whether a withdrawal picks BNB Smart Chain or another network is still the receiver. Do not send every asset to BSC because you just paid a fee in BNB.
The fee shown and the amount actually charged
The number on the withdrawal page, the moment before you submit, wins. Network fees move. They also follow the asset and congestion.
We will not print “TRC20 is always X.” That line goes stale. A friend’s screenshot is not this send. Internal transfers (Funding to Spot) do not walk a chain. Those three networks are not on that page.
Minimum withdrawal and confirmation counts differ by asset and network. Under the minimum, the button greys or submit fails. Do not split under the minimum “to test the fee” — a probe still has to clear that network’s minimum.
Whether the fee comes out of the withdrawal amount or is charged extra is the arithmetic on that withdrawal row. Credit = the amount you typed minus the fee the page writes, or “credit amount counted separately” — do not agree that verbally. Congestion slows confirmations. That is not enough evidence the platform is “holding your coins.” Check a block explorer before you open a ticket.
After a wrong network, what you can still do
Stop. Keep the TxID, the address, and the network name. Open a platform ticket. Do not send a second amount to “hedge.”
The same 0x string on ETH and on BSC is the same characters. The coins sit on different ledgers. If the other wallet has not enabled that chain’s USDT contract, the UI looks empty. Some wallets can switch networks and see it. Some exchange deposits only listen to their own chain. Whether they hear it is the receiver, not a second send you can use as a fix.
This site cannot pull coins off a wrong network. Ticket clocks are the page. The outcome can still be unrecoverable.
If the probe credits, then send the rest. If the probe fails, the loss is capped. On our walk-throughs, large sends do not go out as “all of it, then ask.” If the receiver is another exchange, read their deposit page for network and minimum first. Both sides above minimum, then start.
A block explorer can look up a TxID. On their chain, still not on their deposit page — that is their listener, not a second send you can use as a fix. Give the TxID to their support. Do not change network and top up.
If the withdrawal page says that network is paused, switch to another network the receiver named, or wait. Do not jump to a “nearby” row because of a pause. A pause is platform maintenance or a risk control. It is not an invitation to improvise.
An address book cuts paste errors. New addresses may still wait through a whitelist lock. Security wins. The lock is annoying on purpose, so a stolen login cannot empty the book the same day.
Tag / Memo and network are not one check
Network picks the ledger. A tag picks who on a shared address. Right network, missing tag, and coins may sit in a pool. If the page shows Tag / Memo, treat it as a fourth match. Paste their tag. If the row is absent, do not invent a string. A QR often carries the address only — fill Memo by hand.
Internal transfer and an on-chain withdrawal are different doors
To another Binance account, walk internal transfer by email / phone / UID. No TRC20 or ERC20 picker. A UID is not an on-chain address. Funding to Spot is also not a withdrawal. A send to your own wallet is when you open Withdraw and pick a network.
A probe under the minimum is not a probe
A probe has to clear your minimum and theirs. A hash on an explorer, their book still empty, is not success. If it fails, stop. Do not try a cheaper-looking chain as a “repair.” The network is the one they named. A fee jump is not a reason to change ledger.
How this pairs with the on-desk chooser
Ask the receiver for the network first, then use the withdrawal network chooser for a lean. The tool leans by asset, size, and whether you fear loss, delay, or cost more. It does not connect to an account, and it does not edit the numbers on the withdrawal page.
If the lean is ERC20 and they only take TRC20, listen to them. The tool cannot override the receiver. How to buy a first spot fill is in first spot trade.
The tool weights “fear loss” above “fear cost.” On a large send, to an address you do not know well, a dearer chain you can confirm beats a cheaper one you cannot. Fee gaps move. A wrong-chain loss can be the whole principal. Stablecoins can depeg. A credit is not a frozen value.
If both addresses start with 0x, are they the same chain?
No. ERC20 and BEP20 addresses look alike. You still pick the network on its own.
