Choose the document type offered by your Binance verification page for your actual country or region of residence. A passport, national ID or driver's license is useful only if that flow accepts it. Read the requirements before preparing photographs.
Residence and issuing country are separate fields
Your residence describes where you live; the issuing country identifies the authority that issued the document. Fill each field accurately. Holding a passport from one country does not mean that country must also be entered as your residence.

A proof-of-address request is separate from the identity-document upload. Before you continue, check the accepted file types, whose name must appear and the required issue-date window. The document checklist can organize these checks, but it cannot determine eligibility for your account.
Prepare the evidence and photograph the ID
- Use the current, valid original. If front and back are required, photograph both sides of the same card.
- Lay it flat under even light. Move the light or camera if glare covers the text.
- Keep the full edges visible and remove fingers or other objects from the frame.
- Review the name, number and expiry date at full size before uploading.
Filters, beauty modes and automatic document enhancement can alter details. If the picture is blurred, retake it. Do not repair text in an editor or submit a chat-compressed copy when the flow requires a clear original photograph.
Match the form to the document, including meaningful letters in the document number. Follow any input-format instructions for spaces or punctuation rather than guessing at missing characters.
Decide what each requested file is for
Before taking photographs, make a short list of the fields in the application and the evidence requested beside them. The identity document shows who you are. A separate address document, if required, answers a different question. A successful upload only means a file was received; it is not confirmation that the file answers the requirement. This distinction helps when the form offers several upload slots that look alike.

Keep the passport information page readable
Use the page containing your photograph and personal details. Include the machine-readable lines at the bottom without covering them with a thumb or cutting them off. A visa page does not replace the information page.
Copy the name as required by the form and the document, including middle names where applicable. If your name or document number has changed, use the official update process instead of mixing old and new information.
For proof of address, keep the issuer, your name, address and issue date visible. A bill addressed to someone else at the same address will not do when the request asks for a document in your own name. Check the acceptable material and age of the document on the current page.
Resolve field requirements and accepted document types
Driver's licenses, residence cards and travel permits have different purposes. Do not upload one into a passport field because it looks similar. If the type you have is absent, identify which supported document you need before trying again.
Extra pages do not automatically make an application stronger. Provide translations, supplementary documents or a photograph holding the ID only when the verification flow requests them.
Resolve a name discrepancy before choosing another file
Suppose an application asks for separate given-name and family-name fields, while a document displays the complete name on one line. This is a formatting question, not a reason to omit part of the name. Read the field help and any instructions for names that do not fit the expected arrangement. If those instructions do not resolve your case, ask official support how to enter that same identity. Do not create a nickname that happens to fit the box.
Compare document numbers just as carefully. A letter, a leading zero and a punctuation mark can have different roles. The form may specify whether formatting characters should be included. Follow that instruction while preserving the actual identifier. A rejected character should lead you to check the input requirements, rather than replacing it with a visually similar character and hoping the result is accepted.
Changing type and following a submitted application
Before submission, use the available back or edit control to correct the document type. Read whether the page requires new photographs before confirming. An ID-card photograph cannot become a passport photograph just because the selected label changed.
During capture or face verification, avoid refreshing or leaving the flow. Once the application is under review, follow that application's status and requests for more evidence. Record the submission time and wait for the result rather than submitting an unrelated second set of files.

Prepare for a replacement document without mixing versions
If you recently renewed a passport or identity card, compare the document number and expiry date in the application with the version you intend to submit. An old saved photograph can be sharp and complete while containing a number that no longer matches the form. Use one consistent set of current information. If an existing verified account needs an update, follow the account's update procedure instead of opening another account to avoid the discrepancy.
Keep a simple preparation note such as “passport information page, current document; address statement, requested month.” You do not need to copy full document numbers into an unprotected note. Its purpose is to distinguish the files you selected, especially if the phone gallery contains several attempts, not to create another collection of sensitive identity data.
Final checks, expiry and face verification
Before pressing the final submit button, review the actual upload previews, not just the original files in your gallery. Confirm that the correct side or page appears in each slot, that the preview is readable, and that the form still shows the intended document type. If the preview is missing or the upload failed, resolve that state before assuming the application contains the file. A filename alone does not show what the reviewer will receive.
Also check that you are continuing the intended account and application. Keep the resulting submission time and status so that a later request can be matched to it. Avoid storing identity images in a shared folder merely to move them between devices. Where the official flow offers a device handoff, use its instructions and complete the capture yourself. Afterward, consider whether any unnecessary temporary copies remain on a shared computer or in a messaging conversation.
The passport expires in a month. Can I still send it?
Being unexpired is not a guarantee of acceptance. Check whether the current verification flow imposes a remaining-validity requirement, and ask official support if the requirement is unclear.
The face step keeps failing. Should I change document type?
First follow the failure message: improve lighting, remove permitted obstructions and complete the requested movements. If the message reports a mismatch, review the identity document and account information. Changing type does not replace verification of the account holder.
Do I need a selfie holding the document?
Only when that step is requested. A document photograph, selfie and liveness check are different submissions. Follow the framing instructions for each instead of adding an unsolicited photograph containing both your face and ID.
